Weather Update: Met Éireann lift snow warning for Donegal

Met Éireann has lifted their Status Orange Snow-Ice warning for Donegal.

Met Éireann previously predicted that Donegal could be struck by up to 8cm of snow between 11pm tonight and 11pm tomorrow night.

This afternoon, the meteorologists have updated the forecast to exclude Donegal from their original report.

The warning now only applies to Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Tipperary.

Nonetheless, Donegal is still in for a cold night, with the regional forecast predicting lowest temperatures of -2 to -6 degrees with light to moderate easterly winds.

“It will be very cold and mostly dry tonight with some clear spells and a widespread frost and some icy patches developing. Cloud will build from the southwest as the night goes on with a band of sleet and snow moving into southern parts of the province which will bring some large accumulations,” Met Éireann says.
