Letterkenny man Michael McGrath has today left for Austria to begin what will hopefully be the start of his life-saving cancer treatment.
Brave Michael is making the trip to Vienna to begin immunotherapy treatment for stage four bowel cancer.
After becoming a dad just three months ago, Michael explains that this treatment plan is the only chance he has at getting better and seeing little Senán grow up.
Michael is making the trip with his sisters Bernadette and Mary and will stay in the Austrian capital for two weeks.
The total cost of the treatment is €150,000, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the cost.
Having almost hit €100,000, the push is on to raise the final third of the cost.
“Please donate what you can, this is potentially life-saving treatment for me and my family. No donation is too big or too small. Thanks in advance for your support, and I will be eternally grateful to one and all,” Michael writes.
“My son needs his dad. My wife needs her husband. Let’s fight this terrible disease together.”
