The well-known Supermacs food takeaway chain is coming to Letterkenny.
A planning notice for the chain’s parent company, Atlantic Enterprises Ltd, has been placed at the Old Tinneys coalyard and entrance to the Letterkenny Shopping Centre site (Tesco) in the town in recent days.
The planning application outlines what the company is seeking on the site.
The application seeks the erection of a two storey restaurant which will include drive-through facilities as well as a kitchen, storeroom and 25 parking spaces.
The application also applies to realign an entrance to the site as well as the removal of current flagpoles on the land at the entrance to the Letterkenny Shopping Centre.
The application can be viewed online or at Donegal County Council offices.
A previous application on the site had sought planning for a petrol station but this had been strongly objected to locally.
Atlantic Enterprises, owned by Galway businessman Pat McDonagh, have Supermacs outlets across Ireland.
