The story of one Donegal’s man fight to get cancer treatment to be able to see his little son Senan grow up has touched the heart of the Donegal public.
Donegal Daily yesterday told how Letterkenny man Michael McGrath is suffering stage four bowel cancer.
His hope of survival is a treatment called Immunotherapy which he is hoping to undergo in Vienna.
Modest Michael, aged 40, launched a Go Fund Me Page https://www.gofundme.com/a-future-for-michael in a bid to raise the €150,000 needed for the lifesaving treatment.
And the Donegal public responded in the only way they can by raising almost €50,000 in just over 24 hours.
A clearly overwhelmed Michael told us “I am completely blown away by the love and support that has been shown to me in the last 24 hours.
“I can’t believe how much has been raised for me. Keep it up. I’m eternally grateful to everyone XX.”
As well as the cash raised so far, the messages of support for Michael, both from friends and strangers, have been hugely touching and encouraging for Michael, wife Susan and his family.
But we’re far from there yet.
If we can raise this amazing amount of money for one of our own in just 24 hours, we can go all the way and make his dream a reality.
So if it’s a euro or a hundred euro, please log on to Michael’s Go Fund Me page https://www.gofundme.com/a-future-for-michael and pledge him whatever you can.
A daddy who just wants to see his little boy take his first steps will be forever in your debt.
