Met Éireann issue renewed Status Yellow snow-ice warning

Met Éireann has today issued a renewed Status Yellow snow-ice warning.

The warning came into effect this morning, and is valid until 10 am tomorrow.

Met Éireann says that scattered wintry showers will sweep the country today.

These wintry showers of rain and hail will become mainly confined to Western and Northern parts tonight, with icy stretches expected.

Tonight will be very cold and mainly dry, with hail and sleet showers being confined to coastal counties of the northwest.

They say that frost will develop widely, with the risk of icy patches on any damp roads. Cloud will increase and rain will develop in the west towards morning.

Lowest temperatures are expected to be between +3 and -2 degrees, with the coolest conditions expected inland.

Met Éireann had originally issued the Status Yellow snow-ice warning on Thursday, and expected to lift the warning this morning. With the inclement weather persisting, they were forced to renew the warning.

Tomorrow will be warmer, with the frost expected to clear. Rain and drizzle will spread from the west during the morning and afternoon. Heavier rain will develop in the evening, with temperatures ranging from 8 to 10 degrees.
