Naomh Colmcille Chairperson Darina Friel says a community is ‘buzzing’ ahead of Saturday evening’s Ulster JFC final in Omagh.
Naomh Colmcille face Belnaleck Art McMurroughs of Fermanagh at Healy Park (7pm) in what is the club’s first-ever provincial final.
Until this year, the club had never won a game in Ulster.
These are indeed giddy times for the border villages of Newtowncunningham, Killea, Carrigans and St Johnston that make up the former Parish of the All Saints, Killea and Taughnboyne from which the club’s playing pool is drawn.
“An unbelievable buzz,” Friel, who this year became the club’s first ever female chairperson, said.
“It’s amazing the atmosphere in the community. Everyone is on a high.
“It’s given the whole community a lift. Everywhere you go, everyone is talking about the Ulster final.”
