The public came out in force to see Donegal business leaders get their hands dirty in a charity car wash to help fund a life-changing operation for little Mikaela Breen.
Donegal Business Network hosted the ‘Bosses Wash for Cash’ event in Letterkenny on Saturday last to raise money for specialist treatment for the seven-year-old Convoy schoolgirl.
DBN Director Darren Donaghy said the ‘Bosses Wash for Cash’ event was a great success with several thousand euro raised for the ‘Mobilize for Mikaela’ Go Fund Me campaign.
“We’re still counting the money raised from the event but the support from the public was been phenomenal. A huge thanks to everyone who turned out to support the fundraiser and to all who assisted in organising what was a fantastic event. A special thanks to Tailored Facility Solutions for facilitating the car wash at their headquarters in Letterkenny.”
“We will be presenting a cheque for the total amount raised next week to help towards little Mikaela getting the treatment she needs.”
Mikaela was born with a Spina Bifida condition which affects her bladder and bowel functions (neurogenic bladder and bowel).
She is now racing against time to avoid further debilitation by undergoing specialist surgery abroad at a cost of up to €70,000.
Her parents Sinead and Chris have set up a Go Fund Me campaign called ‘Mobilize for Mikaela’ to help raise some of the money needed.
