Labhaoise Clarke was left ‘gutted’ as an injured hand saw her unable to finish her fight at the AIBA World Youth Championships in India.
Clarke was up against Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor in a last 16 bout at 57kgs in Guwahati.
The Carndonagh ABC woman had been on top of things in the first round, but the impact of a hand injury meant she couldn’t go beyond the second round and her bid for success at the Championships is over.
Clarke, who has won nine Irish titles, had been aiming for glory in India to earn a place at next year’s Youth Olympics.
Clarke described herself as ‘gutted’ to bow out, but vowed: “I’ll be back stronger than ever.”
