Last year, he was still on Finn Harps’ books before he returned to his native Swilly Rovers. This summer, McNamee made the move to Fanad and is part of a 20-man panel that carries the USL hopes into the weekend.
“We have good experience with a few players dropping down from senior football. It’s a very strong squad,” McNamee said.
“We’re not going to compete – we’re going to win it. Hopefully we can go on and achieve what they did a couple of years ago.
“There are always players in the USL capable of playing at a higher level. Hopefully they can show that at the weekend.”
McNamee has been impressed by the standard of the USL since returning to the intermediate grade.
He said: “There is nothing wrong with the standard in the League. It’s not that the standard has dropped. There are a few teams in the county who are maybe afraid of coming up to it.”
