Karate Ireland recently held their National Junior Kumite Championships which seen top level Karateka from all styles make the trip to Dublin to compete in what is the biggest date in the Irish calendar.
With Karate having recently being accepted as an Olympic sport for Tokyo 2020 shining in this competition is always a massive achievement for any club but on this outing Martin McNamee sent out a clear message that the Three Rivers, while small in numbers, are a force to be reckoned with.
Six members of the club travelled to Dublin and to delight of their Coach and supporters they returned with an amazing five new National Titles with Emma Dolan, Ciarán Crawford, Ace Rodrigues, Brodie Hannigan and Eoin Crawford all putting in amazing performances to take gold in their respective categories.
Mark Doherty, who was very unlucky in his semi final match narrowly loosing out to the judges decision, took bronze an amazing tally that seen the club return home to Lifford sitting second on the medal table for the day.
The Three Rivers Shotokan Karate club continue to train every Monday and Wednesday night in the Resource Centre Lifford.
