Gardai are hunting for a murder weapon which they believe was used to murder a man in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.
Sebastian Adamowicz, aged 36, was found with severe head injuries at his home at 15 Sylvian Park on Wednesday last, November 1st.
He was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital but died the following day as a result of his injuries.
It was initially thought that Mr Adamowicz, a Polish national, had fallen down the stairs at the house.
However, following a post-mortem carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy, a murder investigation was launched last night (Sun) by Gardai in Letterkenny.
At a press conference at Letterkenny Garda Station today (Mon), Detective Inspector Pat O’Donnell said they were seeking witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the attack on Wednesday afternoon, November 1st.

Inspector O’Donnell confirmed that the victim suffered serious head injuries and were now searching for a murder weapon.
“We have extended our the radius of our search in the area to cover hedgerows, etc in which the weapon may have been hidden,” he confirmed.
Inspector O’Donnell added that he was appealing to any deliverymen, postmen or other people who may have been in the vicinity of Sylvian Park to contact them.
The victim, a single man who moved to Ireland several years ago, had shared the house with four other people, three males and a female.
All four of these people have been interviewed by gardai.
The house was very tidy apart from the area where the late victim had been found, added the Garda Inspector.
No arrests have yet been made.
Inspector O’Donnell confirmed that he had spoken to the late Mr Adamowicz’s mother and family who had arrived in Ireland after their son had been injured.
“They are very decent people and as you can imagine they are very distraught by what has happened,” he said.
