Irish Water has announced that domestic water charges will be rolled out in the coming months.
Irish Water will be refunding almost one million payments for those who paid domestic billing charges. The total sum paid will be refunded in full. They will send a cheque attached to a letter to the account holder at their registered address.
If you have moved or have to amend any other contact details, Irish Water ask that you update your account information immediately by contacting Callsave on 1850 448 448 or +353 1 707 2824, Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm.
Irish Water estimates that the average amount being refunded is as follows:
- Unmetered households with more than one occupant who paid all five bills could receive a refund of up to €325.
- Unmetered households with a single occupant who paid all five bills could receive a refund of up to €200.
- Metered households, including those who availed of allowances for children may be due less.
Irish Water says: “Refunds of almost one million payments will start as soon as the necessary legislation has passed and government funding has been put in place. This process will take a number of months.
“We want to refund our customers efficiently and securely within the timeframe given. Cheques are the most effective method available to do this while also ensuring we refund to the correct person.
“Irish Water will never contact you looking for bank account details. If you receive such a call or email please let us know on 1850 448 448.”
