Former professional cyclist Joe Bar set a new world record this morning when he returned from a Malin-Mizen-Malin cycle.
The 58-year-old endurance cyclist made the gruelling 735 mile trek in 48 hours and 40 minutes.
The record is expected to be verified by the UltraMarathon Cycling Association for the UMCA Malin Head – Mizen Head – Malin Head route.
Barr, from Newtowncunningham, set the previous mark in 2015 when he completed the cycle in 49 hours and one minute.
This time, though, it was with a difference as the time of year meant that half of the 48 hours were done in darkness, heightening the challenge even further.
Barr came back to Malin Head this morning, beating his own record with 21 minutes to spare.
In the vide below, posted by Team Joe Barr on Facebook, you can see just how on the limit he was.
