Letterkenny Gardaí have arrested a van driver for drink driving.
The driver also had no number plates or tax.
The Traffic Corps seized the van on the spot.
Gardaí say that a court date is to be scheduled for the driver.
If brought to court for drink driving, drivers can face a minimum of a three-year ban for their first offence, or a six-year ban from driving if it is their second offence and if the concentration of alcohol exceeds 66mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. As these are minimum penalties, the judge has the discretion to increase these penalties.
The maximum penalty for drink driving is €5,000 or 6 months in prison or both.
Failure to display a current tax disc on your vehicle is considered a motoring offence and will result in a €60 fixed-charge fine issued by a traffic warden or a Garda.
