Burtonport’s Joe Duffy returns to action on Saturday night when he meets James Vick in a lightweight bout at UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden.
Duffy is in the octagon for the first time since signing a new seven-fight UFC deal in July.
Vick is a 30-year-old fighting out of Temple Hills, Maryland.
From Texas, he fights under the moniker ‘The Texecutioner’.
Vick has won all bar one of his 12 fights as a mixed martial artist.
The only blot on his copybook was the June 2016 defeat to Beneil Dariush when he was stopped in the opening round at Inglewood.
Since then, he submitted Abel Trujillo in February and had a first round win over Marco Polo Reyes in May.
Rising contenders Vick and Duffy are both in action for the first time since penning new contracts. After his defeat of Reyes in Dalla, Vick signed a new four-fight deal.
