The North West community has shown heartwarming support for two people who lost everything when their cottage was destroyed in a fire.
A mother and son were hospitalised after a fire broke out in their home on Tuesday in Belleek, Co. Fermanagh.
Kathleen Flanagan, who is a grandmother aged in her 70s and her son Kieran Flanagan, who is in his 40s, were in the home at the time of the incident at approx 8am on October 31st.
It is believed they are still receiving treatment in hospital. However, their little family dog perished in the fire.
A community fund has been set up to support Kathleen and Kieran in their hour of need. Kathleen is originally from Ballyshannon and has strong links to Donegal.
Local fundraiser Joanne Cunningham has appealed for any help people can offer to the family:
“Yesterday morning (Tuesday) Kieran and his mum Kathleen suffered the traumatic loss of everything they possessed in this world including the loss of their wee dog in a devastating house fire.
“This justgiving page can’t do anything to help with the physical or emotional pain that Kieran and Kathleen are going through but it can help them with the practical side of starting to rebuild their home. Please just give what you can, no amount is too little,” Ms Cunningham said.
