The Donegal Chamber Music Festival has firmly established itself as a highlight in the north west’s musical calendar.
Celebrating its 4th season this year, the fantastically talented Donegal chamber ensembles performed concerts in the stunning locations of Glebe House and Gallery and Glenveagh Castle for the four-day festival of classical music.
Belfast-born composer Elaine Agnew was the featured composer at the weekend’s 4th Donegal Chamber Music Festival which ran from Thursday October 12th to Sunday October 15th 2017.
The composer conducted the ensembles who performed her specially arranged pieces which featured in all of the concerts including the Donegal Junior Strings Orchestra family concert on Satuday afternoon.
Opening the festival in the intimate setting of Glebe House, the Szabó-Yélamo String Duo enchanted the audience with a programme of romantic Spanish classics, Latin American songs and popular tangos. A magical evening!
The Donegal Chamber Orchestra continued to weave a musical spell over the audience in the drawing room of Glenveagh Castle with a wonderful reportiore, including Vivaldi’s Concert for Strings, Bizet’s Carmen and Elaine Agnew’s Take Off, on Friday and Sunday.
This annual chamber music festival is organised by the Donegal Chamber Music Society in association with Donegal Music Education Partnership.
