Three Rivers Badminton Club in Killygordon are hosting a Sports Inclusion Event tomorrow afternoon.
In collaboration with Donegal Sports Partnership, people of all ages and with all disabilities are invited to this Disability Badminton Taster Session which promises to be a fantastic event.
Maxine McCreary explained to Donegal Daily that it is vital that people with disabilities should have options when it comes to sports.
“This event is open to anyone of any age and with any disability.
“Donegal Sports Partnership have also provided ten sports wheelchairs which will remain in the centre for use. We are hoping to make the centre a hub for sport for everyone.
“We have been involved with Ability Days for a number of years, and we all enjoy taking part in them. After being involved in the No Barriers Foundation at the Aura Leisure Centre in July, that really gave us a push to organise this taster day.”
Depending on interest, they hope to make the all abilities badminton classes fortnightly, and if enough people are interested they will then structure classes going forward.
“Often people who need wheelchairs are only given the option of doing basketball, but we want to make badminton accessible to everyone and allow people to try different sports and be involved in different groups.”
It kicks off at 1pm and will last until 2:30pm at the C.A.K.E. Centre in Killygordon – why not drop in and try your hand at badminton?
