Letterkenny University Hospital is the most overcrowded in Ireland today with 38 patients awaiting admission.
According to the INMO, 25 people are on trolleys, and 13 are waiting on the wards.
Today marks the busiest day in an already strenuous week at LUH’s Emergency Department.
On Monday, LUH cancelled all outpatient appointments and advised patients to only attend the hospital in the case of an emergency. On Monday 31 patients were left waiting, 12 of whom were on trolleys, whilst yesterday the figure lowered to 27. It has now raised again to almost 40.
Across Ireland today, 377 patients are awaiting admission, 252 of whom are waiting on trolleys.
Other overcrowded hospitals today include Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan and Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore. In both hospitals, 34 patients are waiting for a bed.
