Darragh Black was one of the Milford heroes in yesterday’s Intermediate final – and he dedicated the win to the tireless behind-the-scenes workers in the club.
Black netted a first half goal as Milford won their first IFC title in 25 years, defeating St Naul’s 2-11 to 0-12.
“It means a lot to a lot of people, not just us,” Black said amid euphoric scenes in O’Donnell Park.
“There’s a team working here this 25 years, the Joe McNultys, the Pat Curleys, the town in general; that’s what it’s for.”
The win came 12 months after Milford lost in agonising circumstances, missing out in a replayed final against Burt.
Black said: “To come back, some teams might have crumbled and not got a chance again for four or five years, but we did it after a year and we’re absolutely delighted.”
