James Boyle and the Republic of Ireland Amputee Football Team bowed out of the EAFF European Championships following a quarter-final loss to Poland today.
Poland ran out 5-0 winners in Riva, meaning the Irish – captained by Dungloe man Boyle – make their exit from the competition.
Boyle had scored in a 4-0 win over Greece on Thursday that fired Ireland into the last eight, following earlier losses to Russia and England.
Boyle was on fire on Thursday and almost broke the deadlock against the poles, but he was denied by the post.
Poland led 1-0 at the break and added four goals in the second half.
