The Portrush Lifeboat and Lough Swilly RNLI are assisting a fishing vessel which got into difficulty off the coast of Malin, Co. Donegal.
The incident began last night when the Portrush Lifeboat Station received reports of a 15 metre fishing vessel with engine failure at 10.52pm on Sunday night, 10 miles north of Malin.
A lifeboat was launched, but the severe stormy weather made for a difficult task of establishing a tow.
The Portrush Lifeboat described the conditions as ‘horrendous’ as they secured a tow by 1.15am.
The Lough Swilly RNLI lifeboat was dispatched at 8.09am on Monday morning. The lifeboat is currently assisting with the landing of the vessel at Greencastle pier.
The Portrush ALB is said to be making slow steady progress and the crews are expected to remain at sea for some time.
