LETTERKENNY RUGBY CLUB will go into a home derby against Donegal Town this Saturday in a bid to get their first win of the KUKRI Ulster Rugby Championship Division 3.
Holywood 45-15 Letterkenny
On Saturday, the side from Dave Gallaher Park went down to their second defeat – both on the road – of the campaign to date after an opening day defeat at Lurgan.
Unfortunately a nasty broken leg sustained by Letterkenny’s Simon Barr overshadowed the occasion, with a 30-minute delay to proceedings as he was taken to the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, Co Down.
Beforehand, Letterkenny had started well with Bryan McGinley scoring an early try which was converted by Peter Scott for a 7-0 lead.
Following Barr’s injury, Letterkenny never got going again. Another injury to Bailey Laughlin saw the visitors reduced to 14 for final half hour and Holywood ran away with the game.
Martin Molloy scored Letterkenny’s second try and Scott added a penalty. The club would like to wish Simon Barr a speedy recovery and thank the Holywood club for their well-wishes.
This coming Saturday, Donegal Town are the visitors for the first XV’s at 2:30pm.
