Ollie Horgan says every point will be ‘priceless’ between now and the end of the season as Finn Harps embark on a Great Escape mission.
With five games to go, Harps are in the relegation zone, albeit on goal difference, but face a tricky run-in, starting with a tough away assignment at Europe-chasing Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght on Friday night (kick-off 8pm).
A last-minute 2-1 defeat to Sligo Rovers on Saturday night dampened the mood considerably down Navenny Street and Harps are now scraping for survival.
“We need a really massive effort from the team tomorrow night because every point is going to be priceless with just five games left,” Horgan said.
“We have to go to Tallaght and try and get something from the game which is going to be very difficult with the quality that they have in their squad.
“It was very disappointing to lose to that last minute goal against Sligo but the lads moved on from that once we got back to training on Monday night.”
Horgan himself will watch the game from the stands as he serves the second of a two-match touchline suspension while centre-back Kilian Cantwell is also banned.
Horgan reports that Paddy McCourt, Ethan Boyle, Gareth Harkin and Sean Houston are all injury doubts, but the injury bulletins posted all season have, more often than not, been defied come kick-off.
Packie Mailey remains sidelined with a hamstring ailment.
