Tory Island students have come out on top in a national competition.

No less than three students from Coláiste Phobail Cholmcille picked up prizes at the National Translation Competition run by ITIA ( Irish Translators and Interpreters Association).

Aimée Nic Láifeartaigh came first in the translation from English to Irish, and has been invited to meet the other language winners in the Irish Writers’ centre in Dublin in October.

Earlier this year Aimée came first in an Irish-language short story competition run by Aonach Tailteann.

Two other students, were also successful in the Aonach Tailteann writing competitions William Ó Ruanaidh ( who won first in the poetry competition and second in the short story competition) and Pádraig Ó Dubhgáin ( who came thirsd in the short story competition).
