Donegal ETB are currently recruiting for a Catering Course to provide people with skills to cut their teeth in an exciting career in the thriving hospitality industry.
This course will give students the vital skills to meet the needs of local employers. Trainees will gain job opportunities arising from the continued development of the Wild Atlantic Way and the shortages of skilled Catering Assistants across the county.
The Catering industry is calling out for skilled workforce in the Catering Sector. Donegal ETB are answering these calls by providing Catering Courses at QQI Level 4 which will allow students to enter employment directly in the sector or progress to higher education opportunities within the sector.
The Letterkenny-based course is free to all job seekers and job changers, which is sure to be an enticing factor that attracts people seeking exciting new career paths.
This is a full-time programme beginning on November 6th 2017. Over 33 weeks, students will gain a focused education in Catering develop their practical skills and enhance their catering knowledge along with gaining valuable work experience with local employers to put their skills into practice.
What would I learn?
Modules on the course cover all aspects of the catering industry. Tutors will lead classes in Short Order Cooking, Kitchen Skills, Meal Service Skills, Customer Service to name a few!

Why should I study with Donegal ETB?

This 33 week long course includes work placement which will allow the learner the opportunity to put their new skills into practice with good opportunity to secure employment. There is an expert team of multidisciplinary tutors with Donegal ETB who will be available to support students at every step of their course.
Tutors at the Donegal ETB are well-known for taking an active interest in each learner to ensure they succeed. Tutors will be visiting students regularly during the work-based learning placements to ensure employers are getting what they need and the students are gaining competence in the sector.

The course is open to jobseekers and job changers.
Applicants should have a QQI level 3 qualification or equivalent.
Competent IT skills are essential and you must have an interest and an aptitude for catering and hospitality.
A good level of written and spoken English is also required.
How much does it cost?
The programme is free to all job seekers and job changers. A Training Allowance will be paid to participants who have an entitlement to a Department of Social Protection payment.
Travel and accommodation expenses are payable (Conditions apply). Childcare places are also available through the new Childcare Employment and Training Support (CETS) Scheme.
