Richard Kerr had a fantastic double podium at round 10 of the Hel Performance Motostar Championship (BSB) at Oulton Park at the weekend.
Kerr continued his fine run of form and closed the gap to third in the standings, 14 points, with four races left.
The 17-year-old Kilmacrennan student finished Sarturday’s 12-lap race in third after one of his close Championship rivals crashed out, leaving Kerr in third place and he crossed the line 10 seconds ahead of the fourth-placed man.
Sunday’s race was in tricky conditions with damp patches and Kerr got involved in a three-way battle for second with his two nearest rivals in the series, fellow Irish man Eugene McManus, who is fifth in the Championship, and English rider Storm Stacy, the third-placed man in the series.
Kerr got a great start and was second in the opening stages but Stacy and McManus both came past with four laps remaining.
The Kilmacrennan lad showed a cool head on young shoulders as he made his move on the final corner and passed McManus and was just 0.3 seconds behind Stacy at the line.
Kerr stretched his lead over McManus to 26 points and closed the gap to third place to 14 points with round 11 taking place on the last weekend of September at the world famous Assen Circuit in Holland, where he hopes to maintain his great run of form.
