Setanta manager Paul Campbell lauded his squad, who have ‘worked like dogs’ to become county champions again.
“It’s been too long,” he said.
“We got hold of Danny (Cullen), Kevin (Campbell), Simon (McMenamin), some of the older heads, at the start of the year and said: ‘Boys, it’s too long from we won the Championship’. We trained three nights a week. You don’t always get what you deserve, but those boys deserve it.
“To the club, the parish, the community, those 26 boys have worked like dogs since February!”
Setanta took the lead for the first time in the final late in the first half and a super start to the second half put them on the glory road.
Campbell said: “We needed more composure and more fight. We bullied them a wee bit in the second half. We came out and the boys did exactly what we said at half-time.”
