A Vinny Faherty header on 16 minutes means Sligo Rovers have the advantage at half-time in tonight’s big relegation six-pointer in Ballybofey.
Half-time: Finn Harps 0 Sligo Rovers 1
Finn Harps have had their moments in the opening 45 minutes, but it’s the Bit O’Red who lead after Faherty broke the deadlock.
Faherty, signed just a few weeks ago, connected with Gary Boylan’s cross to steer past Ciaran Gallagher.
Late in the Harps, Sligo could have doubled the lead, but Gallagher saved from Daniel Kearns while Harps defender Ethan Boyle breathed a sigh of relief as a Sligo corner cannoned off him, but dropped the right side of the post.
Harps weren’t far off an equaliser in the 34th minute when Mark Timlin found room where there was none to invite a shot from Sean Houston, whose low effort whizzed just wide.
But Ollie Horgan’s men have it all to do in part two.
