A busy summer bathing season in Donegal has seen 569 potential accidents being prevented by beach lifeguards.
Lifeguards at the county’s 21 designated bathing areas prevented over 400 accidents in the July alone, according to 2017 rescue statistics.
Between June-August 2017, 131 first aid missions were carried out, 11 cases of lost children were attended to and 27 rescue missions were completed.
The 14 lifeguarded beaches in Donegal saw the treatment of jellyfish stings, minor injuries and several rescues over the summer months.
Lifeguards also recorded giving advice to beachgoers on more than 7,000 occasions.
The numbers were released by Donegal County Council to wrap up the ended of the Bathing Season by Beach Lifeguards.
