Michael Gallagher is aiming to stay busy after his fine professional debut win.
Gallagher stopped Poland’s Mateusz Rybarski in the third round of their bout at The National Stadium on Saturday night.
Gallagher – pictured above with his father, Shane – put an end to the fight in the third stanza of a contest slated for four rounds.
The Finn Valley puncher, coached by Conor Quigley, was one of the most impressive performers on the night at the Celtic Clash 3 event.
“I’ll keep ticking over now and look forward to the next one now,” said Gallagher.
“I just want more fights now and to be kept busy. I am happy with tonight for now.
“I think he noticed I had power and he backed off then. He was quite defensive, but I knew when I put pressure on him I could get him out.”
Gallagher had quite the reputation as a knockout puncher as an amateur.
He said: ”I wasn’t thinking anything other than boxing the way I always box. I went in to do just that and if it went the four rounds it went the four rounds, but it didn’t and I am happy with my performance.”
Gallagher was backed by a big crowd of family and friends, who made the trip to Dublin.
He said: “It was some buzz compared to the amateurs. The family and crowd were amazing. I am grateful for the support and I am happy they enjoyed it too.”
