Letterkenny Gardaí stopped a car that had no headlights on – and got more a lot than they bargained for.
When they pulled the car over they discovered that the driver was committing a greater offense as they had been disqualified from driving.
The car was seized, with a court date to follow.
Gardaí say that as the evenings draw in, daylight hours are in short supply so we all need to be conscious of being visible on the roads – this includes drivers.
Defective or non-working lights are liable to a penalty of €60, so a check by the Gardaí could see you caught in the headlights.
If a driver is aware that they are committing a more serious offense such as the driver above – it’s probably best they don’t put themselves in the ‘spotlight’ by driving without their headlights.
