A Letterkenny man who has a ‘substantial track record’ of road traffic offences has avoided a prison sentence.
Paul Sweeney, of 4 Cathedral Court in Letterkenny, was stopped by Gardaí on November 16, 2016, driving a car which was not insured.
38-year-old Sweeney was before Letterkenny District Court.
Judge Paul Kelly noted Sweeney’s ‘substantial track record of road traffic offences’ and said he was ‘very close’ to dealing with the matter by imposing a custodial sentence.
Sweeney was sentenced to 80 hours of community service in lieu of three months imprisonment.
Sweeney was disqualified from driving for two years.
