The Flood Aid fundraising concert has been hailed as a huge success, raising over €30,000 in aid of the victims of the Inishowen floods.
The event on Sunday September 3rd saw over 1,000 people enjoying a county music spectacular at the Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny.
Fans flocked to the concert to see their favourite Irish Country stars, including Daniel O’Donnell, Nathan Carter and many more. The true spirit of country music shone through as the performers showed solidarity with their fans in Donegal who have supported them throughout the decades.
A huge surprise was the performance by Big Tom, where he proved he really is still the king as he wowed the crowd.
The benefit concert was organised at incredible speed to quickly raise money for the families who have had their lives devastated by the flash flooding on Tuesday 22nd August.
Over €30,000 was raised for the victims at yesterday’s concert. Ticket sales and a raffle brought the great sum together and there was a great feeling of goodwill among the stars and all who volunteered their time to bring the event together. Money raised will go towards the Red Cross fund to help the people of Inishowen begin rebuilding their lives after they were displaced from their homes, businesses and livelihood.
By the time the grand finale came together everyone was singing, dancing and clapping along. All performers lined the stage to sing together and celebrate a fantastic fundraising evening.
