Tickets are now on sale in Donegal and Derry for the charity game between Finn Harps and Derry City in aid of the Inishowen Flood Relief Fund.
The match takes place on Friday the 8th of September in Maginn Park (kick-off 8pm).
Derry City’s Barry McNamee with Finn Harps players Eddie Dsane and Abrahim Keita with Declan Irwin Managing Director of Irwin Expert Electrical who are sponsoring the TV prize for the fundraiser game.
Finn Harps Secretary John Campbell says the game is an ideal opportunity for the general public to demonstrate their support for those that have been so badly affected by the catastrophic flooding that occurred just two weeks ago across the Inishowen Peninsula.
“On behalf of Finn Harps Football Club I would be encouraging especially the football fans from all parts of Donegal to come out and support the fundraiser for those people in Inishowen whose homes, businesses, farming enterprises and community and sporting facilities have been so badly hit by the consequences of the floods two weeks ago” Mr Campbell said.
Finn Harps, Derry City Football Club and the Inishowen League have been putting a huge effort into the fundraiser over the past week and are encouraged by the response so far according to Mr Campbell.
He said: “First of all I would like to thank all the outlets who are selling tickets for Friday night’s charity game.
“What we all want to see now is as big a turnout as possible for what is also a very attractive friendly game between two neighbouring League of Ireland Premier Division clubs.
“But the most important thing is to help the many people in Inishowen whose lives have been so badly affected by the flooding. We want to stress that all proceeds from next Friday night’s game will go directly to the Inishowen Flood Relief Fund.”
Finn Harps has also secured a hugely attractive prize of a 43-inch TV as part of the fundraiser with tickets going on sale during Friday night’s game at Maginn Park.
Mr Campbell said: “Finn Harps would like to thank Irwin Expert Electrical for sponsoring the prize of 43-inch TV which and we hope that the ticket sales for that will be very well supported also during the game on Friday night for the very worthy cause.
“The Managing Director of the Company Declan Irwin resides in Buncrana and saw at first hand the devastation that the floods caused two weeks ago. So he was only too delighted to help with the flood relief fund.”
