JUNIOR B CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL. CONVOY V PETTIGO. Three first-half goals by Ryan Carlin set Convoy on their way to championship glory in Mc Cool Park. Those scores in the 5th, 14th and 24th minutes proved the difference as otherwise Pettigo matched the winners but couldn’t close the gap sufficiently to make a real contest of this final as it finished 3-12 to 0-12 in Convoy’s favour as Charlie Collins reports. Convoy lead 3-05 to 0-07 at the break, Carlin fisting in crosses from David Shovlin and Peter Blake for his first and third goals and lobbing a beauty over keeper McBarren in between after Shovlin strong run and pass. Carlin also pointed from close range while Shovlin, Peter Blake, Simon Mc Glynn and Connor Porter all chipped in with points. Pettigo battled hard throughout with Darren Johnston (0-2) , Paul Robinson ( 0-2 ) and Michael O Riordan ( 0-3 ) sharing their first-half scores. Peter Blake ( 0-3 ) , Simon Mc Glynn ( 0-3 ), kept the score board ticking over for Convoy in the second-half while O Riordan, Robinson, Kevin and John Kane and Kieran Mc Gee replied for Pettigo but points were never going to be enough to rescue this final and Convoy ran out comfortable winners on the back of a solid performance and Ryan Carlin’s hat-trick of first-half goals.
