Richard Kerr made a rare home appearance today at Kirkistown and joined his younger brother Andrew – who turned 13 in July – at the county down venue.
Richard had an eventful day as he won the first race by 28 seconds, leading from start to finish, and lapped the county Down circuit, 3.5 seconds a lap quicker than his nearest rival, and broke the Moto 3 lap record by over half a second.
In race two, Kerr got away on his own and was again under his own lap record but arare mistake caused the Kilmacrennan schoolboy to crash out of contention, fortunately without serious injury.
Younger brother Andrew was also in action in the production 250/300 class and after both races finished in third place overall – a great start to his debut year on the short circuits and one to watch for the future.
