EXCLUSIVE: A woman who escaped the torrential floods in Inishowen on a tractor has given birth to a baby boy – whom she has called Noah!
Edel Kerin was stranded in the town of Clonmany when horrendous flooding struck the Inishowen Peninsula on Tuesday evening last.
Edel, who was actually due to give birth on the day the floods struck, was with sister Danielle who is also six months pregnant.
The pair, who were accompanied by Edel’s two little girls Emma, aged 6, and Lauren, aged, 2, were desperate to check on their parents who live in Urris.
Local man Nathan Noone came to their rescue and drove all four in his tractor back to the family home.
Edel’s husband Damian, 38, has told how he was forced to spend all day on Wednesday cleaning up his parents home in Cockhill in Buncrana after also getting stranded in the floods and not arriving home until 3am on Wednesday morning.
However, waters of a very different kind broke on Wednesday evening when Edel told her husband to pack the bags for Letterkenny General Hospital.

And just after 1.30pm on Thursday afternoon, the couple’s first baby son was born and weighed in at a very healthy 8Ibs and 4 ounces.
Damian revealed to Donegal Daily how the couple just could not resist from naming their new bundle of joy ‘Noah.’
“We had thought about a number of different names. Noah was one of them because my dad’s name is Noel and Edel’s is Anthony.
“We just thought that with the week that was in it and all the biblical connections, we would name him Noah,” revealed Damian.
Mum and baby Noah got out of Letterkenny General Hospital yesterday (Sat) and returned to their home in Heather Park, Buncrana.
Damian said everyone is fine and that himself and Edel are really looking forward to telling their son how he got his name and the eventful few hours before he arrived.
“I was stranded and couldn’t get to Edel and the girls but they are fine considering all they’ve been through. In fact, the girls wanted to get on the tractor and do the journey again.
“Obviously Noah wasn’t around but we’re really looking forward to telling him all about it when he is old enough to understand,” added Damian.
