The Donegal community of both home and away have come together this week to help Donegal students who are finding it impossible to find accommodation amidst the housing crisis.
Students find it difficult to secure housing at this time of year due to the influx of people to cities like Dublin to attend third-level, as well as the fact that many landlords specifically ask for no student applications on property applications due to stereotypes. Cost is also a huge factor. The amalgam of these elements makes securing accommodation in Dublin at this time of year very difficult.
A spokesperson of the Donegal Community in Dublin told Donegal Daily that as they are aware of the issues facing students from Donegal, they have set up a Facebook page to connect those in search of accommodation, and those who may be interested in renting a room.
“All you need to do is join the event and comment either if you’re looking for accommodation or if you have a room available to rent. For example: Single room available to rent in Drumcondra for nine months. Even if you’re neither of the above we would love if you could share the event and help us spread the word.”
