Yesterday was the first anniversary of the tragic passing of Corporal Gavin Carey of the Irish Defence Forces.
Corporal Carey drowned at Tullan Strand near Bundoran while swimming with colleagues.
The lifeboat crew were honoured to be invited to a ceremony held today at Roguey as a bench was dedicated in his memory.
Gavin’s mother Patricia made a presentation of a substantial sum to Operations Manager of Bundoran Lifeboat Tony McGowan.
The crew thanked Gavin’s family, friends and army colleagues for their continued support.
