Letterkenny Garda Traffic Unit detected a vehicle traveling at 179km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The vehicle was quickly pulled over by Gardaí who arrested the driver.

The driver is now being charged with dangerous driving, with a court date to follow.

People tweeted the Garda Traffic Twitter page with their opinion.

Some people condemned the driver’s actions, calling it “not acceptable”, whereas others took a more controversial stance.

One commentator says; “Ban all Donegal males under age of 25 minutes from driving on their own. Would be very hesitant to travel with family up there.”

The commentator made these remarks without knowledge of whether or not the driver was from Donegal, their gender, or age.

Another said; “I’m not surprised, was on hols Donegal last year, lucky to get out alive. Crazy drivers seem to be the norm there.”

“A person like this belongs on the bus. Absolutely no business being behind the wheel,” tweeted another.
