The actions of the emergency services in helping to save the life of a man at last weekend’s All-Ireland Coastal Rowing CHampionships in Ballyshannon have been praised.
The man, who was in his 50s and understood to be from Co Antrim, took ill while preparing for one of the races.
The on-site doctor as well as the Irish Red Cross and the emergency services rushed to the man’s aid and a defibrillator was used.
The man was taken to Sligo General Hospital.
The chairman of Donegal Bay Rowing Club, Seamus Maguire, praised the actions of all those involved in assisting the man.
