Sports Fitness Academy is launching four exciting new courses in Stranorlar.
L2 Fitness Instruction, L3 Personal Trainer, L3 Sports Massage Therapy and L4 Sports Massage Therapy are being introduced by the Sports Fitness Academy.
They are also hosting an open day at the Base Enterprise Centre for prospective students between 11am and 7pm on August 24th. Tutors will be at hand to answer any questions about the upcoming courses.
Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction – Gym based
This Level 2 Gym Instructors Certification is the industry’s most popular entry-level fitness instruction qualification and is ideally suited to those with a passion for health and fitness.
You will learn all the essential knowledge and skills to enable you to confidently plan, instruct and evaluate successful one-to-one gym programmes. If you would like to start a career within this industry, this is the course for you.
It will provide you with the stepping stones to achieving a Personal Trainer Certificate as it provides the underpinning knowledge and skills in preparation for this future career. It also provides the first step to progress and complete other CPD courses such as Circuit training, Kettlebells or Indoor Studio Cycling.
Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training
This qualification is aimed at students wishing to become a Personal Trainer, and already hold the pre-requisite of L2 fitness instruction.
During this course you will acquire the skills, knowledge and competence required to offer one-to-one training, fitness assessment, nutritional advice and progressive programming which is specific to the individual needs of a client. This Personal Training Course will enable successful candidates to work with a wide range of customers from basic gym inductions through to professional athletes.
You will learn how to design, manage and adapt a gym based personal training programme with a range of clients, how to communicate with clients effectively and motivate clients to adhere to exercise programmes and learn how to apply the principles of nutrition to support client goals as part of an exercise and physical activity programme.
Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy
Within this qualification you will learn the skills and knowledge required to plan, provide and evaluate sports massage treatments for both sporting and non-sporting clients.
You will learn to treat individuals suffering from a wide range of conditions, such as muscle fatigue, lumbago/non-specific low back pain, and repetitive strain/overuse, non-acute type injuries.
Level 4 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy
This qualification is designed to prepare you for a career as a sports massage practitioner working with injured clients. The units it contains cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 3 qualification in sports massage therapy or equivalent.
Specifically, this qualification will develop your knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology to work on post-acute injury and pre-existing conditions, dealing with musculoskeletal and para-tendon injuries.
You will develop the skills to conduct subjective and objective assessments, which will cover active, passive and resisted range of movements, detailed postural analysis, functional testing and special tests. You will also develop the skills to work safely and effectively on muscle and para-tendon injuries using a variety of soft tissue techniques and will be able to advise on treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair.
