John Fitzgerald hit 2-2 as Cloughaneely overcame 14-man Naomh Bríd to advance into the quarter-finals of the Intermediate Championship last evening.

Fitzgerald netted a goal in each half, but they were made work for their corn against a Naomh Bríd side that had Tommy Gallagher sent off in the opening quarter.
They were two points up when Gallagher was shown his marching orders and when Fitzgerald batted home from a raking ball into the mixer, Cloughaneely led 1-4 to 0-5 at the changeover.
Darragh Brogan, who scored five points, had the hosts level, but Lee O’Brien riffled past Pauric McDaid for a second Cloughaneely goal.
Kevin Mulhern was sent off for the visitors when he was given his second yellow card, but Fitzgerald bagged his second major of the night.
