Kevin McHugh believes his Finn Harps Under-15s will learn much from their opening night defeat in the SSE Airtricity Under-15 League last night.
Harps took the lead through Conor Black but Sligo’s Cillian Heaney struck twice in two minutes before Ciaran Jennings added a third.
Harps’ Luke Rudden pulled one back, but they were unable to draw level.
“The occasion got to some of them and that’s all about learning too,” McHugh said.
“It was a great advert for under-15 national league football. It was real end-to-end football. It was disappointing to lose and get caught out twice with the long ball, but there were more positives than negatives.”
