Just two months after escaping serious injury when a concrete post pierced through the floor of his car, Kevin Eves wrapped up a Rally Championship win today.
The Pettigo man finished 12th overall in the Ulster Rally. His finish, coming second in the nationals, was enough to give him the Clonakilty Black Pudding Modified Championship crown.
In June, Eves and William Lynch, his co-driver, had a fine start to the Joule Donegal International Rally before they crashed out on the notorious Wilhare’s Corner on Knockalla.
Eves broke two metatarsals and fractured another and was out of action since.
Back at the wheel of the Corolla yesterday, Eves had a good weekend and wrapped up his Championship title, with Eugene Meegan having gone off.
Muff man Joseph McGonigle, with Falcarragh’s Ciaran Geaney on the notes, was seventh overall.
The Ulster Rally was won by Keith Cronin, who had 55.4 seconds to spare on Fredrik Ahlin.
