Loreto Milford students Niall Brennan and Jamie Mc Laughlin have achieved outstanding marks in their Leaving Cert exams.
Niall, the head boy, and Jamie, the deputy head boy, both scored a whopping 613 points.
Jamie McLaughlin’s parents Ciaran and Noelle McLaughlin from Woodlands, and Niall’s parents Fergus and Mairead Brennan are absolutely over the moon at the boys’ success.
Two other students, Kyle Maccauley and Patrick Ferry also received remarkable scores.
Kyle’s mum and dad Lynn and Mark from Ramelton and Patrick’s parents Vincent and Sandra are also very proud of their exceptional grades.
Loreto Milford Principal Margaret O’Connor told Donegal Daily that the school is incredibly proud of all the students who sat the exams this summer and wish them all the very best in their future career paths.
“We’re very proud of all our students, with great marks across the board.
“We had ten students achieve over 500 points, which is an outstanding achievement.
“The top four scorers are outstanding boys, very dedicated and hard workers. They are polite, diligent, and cooperative, all the things you’d want in a student. We’re chuffed with their success.”
Jamie and Niall are also popular amongst their peers, securing the positions as Head Boy and Deputy Head Boy through nominations from their classmates.
Niall takes part in all of the school’s musicals, and Jamie is exceptional in his aptitude for science and maths.
Patrick is very interested in GAA, and virtuoso Kyle has keen interest in music. Kyle was also part of the prefect team, and was actually performing at the Fleadh in Ennis when his results came out!
“Whilst we are very proud of the results of all our students, obviously the attention is drawn to the top scorers. It’s an incredible feat of for any 17 or 18-year-old in exam conditions to be able to rattle out a string of H1s – to be consistent across a range of disciplines and to gain more than 90% in most of them ”
“We’re delighted that our students reached their full potential. Although not all students scored as highly as the top four, all other students’ marks are just as important and we are so proud of them all.”
Niall, Jamie, Kyle, and Patrick are now waiting with fingers crossed for the CAO offers which come out on Monday.
Two of the lads have their hopes pinned on UCD, with Jamie hoping to study Engineering and Patrick having his eye on Actuary.
Niall plans to study Mathematics at Queens, and Kyle has his fingers crossed that he will get into Music at UCC.
