Daniel pays touching tribute to his late father on Elvis’ anniversary

Daniel O’Donnell has paid a touching tribute to his late father who died on the same date as Elvis.

The Donegal singing sensation is touring America and is playing a number of Elvis hits including ‘Love Me Tender’ to mark the 40th anniversary of The King’s death.

Daniel also revealed his late father Francis died on the same day as Elvis – 49 years ago.

The singer has said he enjoyed a happy childhood apart from the death of his father from a heart attack when he was just six years old.

Speaking while on tour, Daniel said “This is the anniversary of Elvis’ death and it’s actually my father’s anniversary of his death too – 49 years ago since my father died.

“So this is an important day in the lives of our family too.”
