Team Sky have confirmed their line-up for the Vuelta a Espana and there is no place for Philip Deignan.
The Vuelta, the final Grand Tour of 2017, begins on Saturday, but Deignan has not been included in the nine-man team.
Deignan finished 37th overall in the Giro d’Italia this year and the 33-year-old had been hoping to be named for the Vuelta.
In 2009, Deignan won stage 18 of the Vuelta, in doing so he had become the first Irishman since Stephen Roche in 1992 to win a stage in a Grand Tour.
Deignan had also been included this year for the Critérium du Dauphiné.
