Collections are being taken across Donegal today and throughout this week for essential items to help the people of Syria.
Up to 13.5million people are in need of support and protection in Syria, where the conflict has displaced 6.3 million people from devastated areas as they seek shelter in refugee camps in Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Jordan and beyond.
Refugees urgently need materials to stay warm during the harsh winter on camp sites.
A joint initiative of the Letterkenny Islamic Association, the Donegal Intercultural Platform and the St. Vincent de Paul society seeks to deliver a lifeline to those in need.
The groups are looking to transport items desperately needed by families, including:
Clothes, cuddly toys, toiletries, shoes, new underwear, blankets, over the counter medication, nappies and socks.
Details for drop-off points are below:
To respect the dignity of the refugees, this appeal asks for people to donate only clean and good items they would use themselves.
